SAIL all set to revive Malvika Steel |
|
28.07.2010:Almost a-year-and-a-half after AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had announced the takeover of sick Malvika Steel Limited by the Steel Authority of India at a grand function in Amethi’s Jagdishpur industrial area, SAIL has finally started to execute its revival plan for the plant.
Now known as the Jagdishpur Steel Unit of SAIL, the plant is going to be revived in two phases. While the deadlines for various stages of the first phase have been fixed, a team of officials has been constituted to work out the details of the second phase.
In the first phase — which will be completed in two years — the plant will be revived in eight stages. First, a warehouse will be constructed. Work has already begun in this regard and is likely to be completed in the last week of August. The warehouse will have a capacity to store about 1,000 tonne of produce like thermo-mechanically treated bars and corrugation sheets.
Next, corrugation sheet making lines will come up. |
